Delphi Society is a non-profit, non-governmental, humanistic organization, legally established in Greece in 1995. It was founded after the declaration of the 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference on “Human Behavior and the Meaning of Modern Humanism”, which was held in Delphi, Greece (June 14-17, 1995).
The goals of the Society are stated in the 1st Delphi Declaration, which can be found in the book of the Proceedings of the 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference, published by Prometheus Books (NY) in 1996, under the title “The Human Predicament – An International Dialogue on the Meaning of Human Behavior”.
Since 1995, Delphi Society in collaboration with the National Hellenic Research Foundation, has been organizing yearly cycles of scientific events on important issues of humanity.
In September 2002 Delphi Society in collaboration with the Hellenic National Research Foundation and under the auspice of the Cultural Olympiad, organized the 2nd International Multidisciplinary Conference, in Delphi, on “Ecological Dynamics and human Nature; the risk of a mass extinction of life on the planet”.
The Proceedings of the Conference were published by the Greek Ministry of Culture in 2003, under the title, “The Human Predicament ии – Ecological Dynamics and Human Nature; the risk of a mass extinction of life on the planet”.
Delphi Society has collaborated with international scientific and humanistic organizations, such as the International Academy of Humanism, the European Humanist Federation, the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation, and with eminent personalities, such as Sir Joseph Rotblat (Nobel Laureate Peace Prize 1995), Dr. Mary Ellen Avery, Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Chair of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Founder and President of Delphi Society since 1995 is Dennis V. Razis, M.D., Oncologist.
