Round-table discussion

January 20, 2005
starting at 19.30 hrs

Human tendency to the metaphysic and the transcendental

Our universe’s parsimoniousness leads many scientists to theorize on a variety of “higher” causes behind it: some non-materialistic, as one or many God(s), some as materialistic as our own species.

We examine the actual necessity for a creator for Life to form; the connection – continuous or not - between him/her/them and the creation. Is there such a thing as “Providence” and how humans benefit from it?

We debate on the place of the transcendental in sciences; an outlaw, or a legal partner?

Various studies of human brain during pray and meditation have led to a “biology of faith” and the emerging science of Neurotheology; is our brain hardwired for the transcendental, for God(s)?
