Event 4
Round-table discussion

March 17, 2005
starting at 19.00 hrs

Ideas: towards more order, more structure, and wholeness

Idea: “a transcendent entity that is a real pattern of which existing things are imperfect representations”; “a visible representation of a conception : a replica of a pattern”; “an entity actually or potentially present to consciousness”*. We examine the ideas from the Platonic archetypes to methods that our mind uses to create order, structure, and ultimately, a whole relationship between ourselves and the world. Possibly, between human and Cosmos.

We discuss creativity by relating science and art. If science by observing the manifested is led to the abstract, then art does manifest the abstract. How does creativity connect these two disciplines?

What does it mean to be original? Are our societies susceptible to the original, or they are meant to be driven by the average and mediocrity? Can a group of intellectuals actually define the evolution of history?
